Cards Using Background Basics: Circles

Modern circles in a stamp set? Yes, Ma'am. I'll take one.

I pulled out Maile Belles Background Basics: Circles to see what would happen...and, well, here's what happened...

Just like most other crafters out there, I've got Christmas on the brain, so my first BB: Circles card was created with that in mind...

I showed this card to Andrew and he took a look and asked me, in a very kind and supportive tone,  "Were you trying to make a card that looks like Minesweeper?" Then he said, "It also kinda looks like bathroom tiles."

So - needless to say - this card was not one of Andrew's favorite, but I'm sticking to my guns on this one. I like it...albeit a little Minesweeper-bathroom-tile-esque.

You may (or may not) notice that the colored circles are a little glossy. Well, that's because I added some Glossy Accents to each one.

I tried to take some photos to show the glossiness, but since I'm still learning my way around this new camera...I'm not sure I succeeded!

For my next BB: Circles project, I wanted to use the stamps as a focal element in the design rather than a background. By now, you oughta know about my affinity for card sets - so it only made sense that I create these...

Turns out that the strip of dots from BB: Circles fit perfectly across a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card leaving a 1/4" border on the edge.

I went with gradients of color on each card card which is a look that I always love. I also gave a little thought to the sentiment. It's got a modern feel and there may very well be a million dots on this card (although, I didn't count!)

Along with my love of card sets comes my obsession with packaging! Now, you could certainly tie these up with a bit of twine, but I took things a little further and created an envelope for the cards to fit in. All I used was my scoreboard, a piece of cardstock and some eyelets. Come by on Monday when I'll be sharing the how to on making one of these for yourself!

I tied the box up and finished it off with a die cut tag from Clear and Simple Stamps and a "Handmade Stationery" sentiment from PTI's Simply Stationery set.

PHEW! Did you make it this far? I went a little photo crazy, huh?
