Operation Write Home Midweek Throwdown Challenge: Masculine Cards

Ever heard of Operation Write Home? Of course you have!!

A few weeks ago, I was invited to design a card for Operation Write Home's Stars & Stamps blog...and I jumped at the chance!

Each week, OWH hosts a throwdown challenge and this week the challenge is to create masculine cards.

I think we can all agree that masculine cards are the nemeses of many paper crafters...present company included! I welcomed the challenge though, and decided to go with a graphic, modern look - something that is totally in line with my cardmaking style.

For the color scheme, I decided on a combination that is very popular right now: Grey & Yellow.

Here's a look at what I created:

Using the Rectangular Labels Collection by Papertrey Ink, I die cut three windows to feature stamped patterns.

Since this is a masculine card, I knew floral imagery would be out of place, but the Harvest Berry stamp provided the perfect replacement!

I stamped and die cut two harvest berry leaves and used one to extend the stamp below the sentiment (you can see where I cut the stem in the close-up photo - make sense?)

If you want to play along with this challenge, head over the the Stars & Stamps blog to enter your own masculine card!

Thanks for stopping by for some Damask Love!
