Skipping Stones Design Team Sketch #94

Another Tuesday and another Skipping Stones sketch! I think I am getting the hang of this!

This week we were assigned to use this sketch:

with this stamp set:

Now, I'm pretty sure that the goal of this assignment was to create something with a Halloween vibe...but leave it to me to take the road less traveled. I hope the Skipping Stones folks won't mind!

Instead, I zeroed in on the polka dot corner border stamp...see it up there? Right above the "Boo" sentiment? Underneath the ghost?

So...I used that stamp to build a slanted background in gradients of orange....seriously...I love gradients. Probably too much...and I get so excited when I discover that I have enough inks to create a good gradient of color! In this case, I discovered four shades of orange in my stash! YAY!

To mix things up a bit more, I turned the sketch horizontally.

I built the background pattern by turning the stamp up, then down, then up and down again. They stacked perfectly and naturally created a diagonal pattern.

By turning the sketch on it's side, I was able to use ribbon as the linear part of the sketch, then add a sentiment that was roughly the same width as the ribbon to visually continue to line...know what I mean?

Now that you've seen my take on the sketch, be sure to stop by the blogs of all the other design team members! These are some seriously talented ladies!

Supplies:
Stamps: Skipping Stones (Halloweenie, Everyday Blessing for the sentiment)
Paper: PTI (white, orange zest)
Ink: (in gradient order from lightest to darkest: Stampin Up (Apricot Appeal, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango), Versafine ink (Habanero))
Other: PTI satin ribbon & button in Orange Zest, 1 3/4 circle punch)
