CAS-ual Friday - The Long and Short of It

Hi crafty friends!

I finally get to play in one of my favorite crafty challenges!!!

I love me some CAS-ual Fridays!

This week, we're deviating from the typical A2 card size and creating cards 4x9 cards...what a great idea for a challenge.

The inspiration for this card was my very first childhood pet...it was a parakeet and I kept him/her (no clue how you can tell the gender of a bird) in a cage in our family room.

When I was about five years old I decided that I wanted a talking bird. You know...those birds that say "Polly wanna cracker..."  Well, I was gonna teach my bird how to talk. So I sat there, day after day, week after week, repeating phrases to the bird hoping that one day he/she would say them back to me.

Now, here's the problem...that bird never talked and that bird was never going to talk....it just wasn't that kind of bird!

My parents knew full well that my bird would never talk, but they let me keep up my training sessions.  I mean..seriously, guys?! You can't give a five year old a little help? I know you're busy and tired and probably happy that I'm occupied with something that doesn't involve risk of death or injury...but really? You just let me sit there are talk to that bird all day!?

Well, even though my bird never said a word, it did give me the idea to make this 4x9 card...so I suppose it wasn't a total loss, right?!

For this card, I loved using the length of the card base to create the suggestion of flight and falling feathers!

I threw together a few stamp sets to create this card - something that I love to do.  I am especially in love with the Feathers set from Clear and Simple stamps! I mean...that set is just pure genius!! Far be it from me to enable you...but really...you need it!

So glad to be playing along in this fun challenge...you should probably join in on the fun too!!

Thanks for stopping by for some Damask Love. Hasta Manana!
