My card is entry #6 *wink wink*
My card is entry #6 *wink wink*
I've hemmed.
I've hawed.
I've tossed countless mock-ups.
I've listened to Eye of the Tiger no less than 12 times.
I've sustained myself on a diet of Fudgesicles, cherries, and sweet potato fries.
I've had a near death experience as I tried to sketch...and run on the treadmill at the same time.
But most importantly, I've made it to Round 1 of the Paper Crafts Magazine Gallery Idol Competition!!!!!
My tummy is full of butterflies and my craft room is a mess but neither can compete with the excitement I feel!
Now it's time for me to share a few details about the card I submitted for Round 1...
This weekend was a smidge on the hectic side!
My first thought for DIY Embellishments was flowers...but I also knew I wanted to do something different and unexpected.
To ease my nerves, I decided that I needed a little Yoga. I went to class, and somewhere between my downward dog and my sun salutation, inspiration struck!
...the Yoga Card was born...
First I sketched the idea in my trusty notebook, which I took with me to class...
Then I crafted...making some tweaks along the way (initially this was going to be a birthday card)...
Lord knows I love a punny card and I knew I needed to stay true to my style during the competition. This card did both. It's clean, simple, with a cutesy sentiment: "OM is where the heart is. It's also a little something different than anything I've seen before!
Making this card though?....not so simple and not so clean either.
I created each little stick figure embellie by using craft wire and pliers.
This spool of wire was my best friend all weekend long! |
I used a pen cap to share their little heads. |
With the heads shaped, I did some crafty wire bending to make each figure. |
So here I am... alive after a weekend full of crafting...and oh so thankful to be counted amongst 19 other crafty geniuses!
Now the waiting begins ... and as nervous as I am, I'd be immeasurably excited to do this all over again next weekend! Here's hoping...
