Marie, make sure you send me an email so that I can pass your information along to the Paper Crafts Magazine peeps!

To everyone else who participated in the hop - thank you for all your lovely comments and emails! I was so excited every time I received a new comment and was delighted by the kindness!!  (Seriously, ask Andrew- I read all the comments outloud to him and was super smiley when I did!)

Now on to the second fun thing for the day - a card!

I've decided to get in on the fun at the Clean & Simple Card Class. I'm not only guest designing but I'm also participating - and I'm learning lots!

Today's class is all about DIY embellishments - the CAS way.  I'm always a little afraid of DIY embellishment challenges, since I'm never quite sure if I've DIY'ed properly, or if my creation counts as an "embellishment" - ah well!

For my card today, I used an image from PTI's Baby Button Bits in a totally non-baby way.

I used a heart die cut and some green embroidery twine to transform the pea stamp into something whimsical and "Valentinesy" - I think this counts as a DIY embellishment - I think

TIP: To shape the embroidery twine into a "vine", I first dabbed some crafting glue (I like Tacky Glue) on my fingers and rubbed it down the length of the twine. This gives it some stiffness and also makes it tacky enough to shape and stick into place.

And while I was in the DIY spirit, I built the sentiment using the "be my valentine" sentiment from PTI's Fillable Frames #11 and Baby Button Bits. With a little creative masking, I turned two sentiments into one!

When making this card, I took into account several of the tips from today's class. Initially I'd planned on placing three hearts in the peapod, but I heeded Kristina's advice and pared it down to one. The result is much cleaner and creates a much better focal for the card.

Welp - that's all for today - although, I may be back later with more DIY embellishing! We'll see!

Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Baby Button Bits, Fillable Frames #11)

  3. Amber, I can't tell you how much I like this card! So cute, and very clever! Thanks for telling us the process you took with the twine, I've been looking for a solution to sticking down twine when I "make shapes". And thank-you for sharing your insecurities about DIY embellishments, you've made me feel a lot better, LOL!
