Papertrey Ink August Blog Hop - Photo Inspiration

It's PTI Blog Hop time!!! YAY! I didn't get to play along last month since I was out of town...but I'm happy to be joining the fun this month!

This month we're all creating something based on the following inspiration image...which is chock full of potential!

When I saw this image, I was immediately drawn to the ADORABLE paper suitcase...seriously...love.

And...as luck would have it, I just so happen to own a set of paper suitcases (chalk it up to my abnormal need to collect random packaging supplies.  Need an oversized vellum take-out container shaped box? Got it! Assorted miniature baskets? GOT EM! The lid to a gift box that I haven't be able to find in months, and should probably just throw away...yep! Got that too!)

Well...let's get back to the packaging du jour...these cutie paper suitcases!

I decided to incorporate a few of the elements from the photo (the gingham, the packaging, the jar) into a simple little Back to School themed treat lunchbox.

Nothing says Back to School like Apples and Alphabets...so I combined them on a simple little card!

I paired the card with a miniature, homemade "Apple Pie in a Jar" and packaged it all in the smallest paper suitcase.

Commercial Break: The whole "Apple Pie in a Jar" thing is perhaps the easiest thing EVER! Just line the jar with your dough, pile in the filling and top off with a little more dough. Bake that sucker for 20-ish minutes, and you've got the cutest little pies! Well...maybe not the cutest.  Personally, I think THESE are the cutest pies ever...but maybe I'm a little biased, right:-)

I carried the theme into a couple of other cards to complete the set..."O" for an orange, and two "C" for a pair of cherries. (I tried to make a "B" look like a blueberry, but things didn't pan out so well.)

That's all from me for this blog hop! I can't wait to see how others interpreted this image!  Happy Hopping!

Supplies:
Stamps: PTI (Fruitful, Outline Alphabet, Tag It's #6, Fruit Fusion: Apple)
Ink: Ranger Archival Ink Jet Black, Vivid Dye Ink (Olive, Brown), Stampin Up Rose Red

  16. I love:

Apple pies in a jar... I've wanted to try these for awhile. I think you convinced me they might end up in some stockings at Christmas.

Cherries made out of C's... I mean, I love all the fruit letters (another stroke of Damask Genius) - but I have a major love of cherries to start with.

    Awesome job, lady!

  22. So sweet! (no pun intended) I love how you made the letters look like the fruits! A-freaking-dorable!! And OMGosh. Apple pie in a jar?! SUCH a fab idea, I'm totally stealing that for preschool teachers next month when they do the Johnny Appleseed unit. I'll be awesome and it's only because of you (and trust me, I'll tell them, "It's my friend, Amber, she lives in my computer and she rocks!") :D
