Clear and Simple Stamps - June Style Watch Issue 3

Who knew that birdcages would be all the rage! I’ve seen birdcage images popping up more and more – especially in home décor, where the silhouettes of birdcages are popular in wall art, bed linens and home accent pieces.

This birdcage image is wonderfully inspiring and easily translated to paper. Today’s project is simple, but full of interest. Check out those little doors that I cut out of the birdcage to add depth.  Don’t be afraid to pull out your craft knife and alter stamped images to fit your vision…

Until later, Loverlies

yes. that is a bow on my card! mark your calendars....this is a rare occasion on Damask Love!

DIRECTIONS:
  • Create a 4.25” x 6.75” A Blanc Check card base.
  • Cut A Blanc Check panel, stamp birdcage images and link chain images in Perfect Little Black Dress ink.
  • Use craft knife to cut doors in the birdcage
  • Stamp bird images in Perfect Little Black Dress ink on Coral Necklace cardstock, cut out, and adhere inside birdcage.
  • Stamp music notes in Simply Blue-tiful ink and sentiment in Perfect Little Black Dress ink.
  • Layer stamped panel on Say Yellow to All Your Fans cardstock and adhere to designer paper with dimensionals.
  • Wrap layered image pane with Coral Necklace ribbon, tie into a bow, and adhere to card base with dimensionals.
  • {Style Watch Tip} Once you’ve cut the birdcage doors with your craft knife, use a black marker to go around the edge of the door. This will create a more finished look and make it appear that the door is a part of the original stamped image.

  2. I have to say this is one of the first bird cage cards I've really liked. Usually seeing anything in a cage depresses me. The fact that these little dudes have their doors open so they can come and go as they please makes this card rock!
