Paper Crafts Magazine and Papertrey Ink Challenges

Today's post is a hefty one, with two cards for two different challenges.

First up is the Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge.

This week's challenge is to emboss only a portion of a card.

I took this challenge and ran with it!

Yesterday, I posted about my recent love of Thickers - the adhesive chipboard letters that are just perfect for making your sentiments pop!

Well, my love of Thickers continues with today's Make It Monday project - but I found a totally new and different way to use them!

I used Thickers to create my very own embossed sentiment! It was super easy - and I even got to drag out some of my beloved Mod Podge!

Here's the step-by-step:

1) You'll need a thin piece of chipboard (I just used the side of a box of pasta!) You'll also need Mod Podge, a foam brush and Thickers that spell out your desired sentiment.

2) Since I wanted a "debossed" sentiment, I aligned the letters in mirror image. If you leave the letters face up, the finished product will be embossed, rather than debossed.

3) Spread a thin layer of Mod Podge on the chipboard to adhere the letters. Then add another very thin later of Mod Podge on the top of the letters. Make sure the edges of the letters are clean - this will give you a clean embossed/debossed image.

Allow the "impression plate" to cure for at least an hour before using.

Once it's cured, run it through your embosser as usual!

Here's the final product - a simple card with a large focal sentiment!

I just love using PTI cardstock for embossing. The 110lb paper is perfect for getting a crisp, deep image.

This project was SUPER easy and allowed me to customize my partly-embossed card!

***

Paper Crafts created several sentiment images and challenged designers to create a card using one of the downloadable sentiments!

Be sure to check out the adorable sentiments! They are FREE and you'll find lots of uses for them!

I decided to use this sweet little sentiment

Instead of using the sentiment in a traditional way - I used it as a logo on this cute little onesie stamp!

I hand-cut the little hanger and used some leftover jewelry wire to make a teensy gold hook.

Just love how this turned out!

If you've made it through this long post - you are quite the trooper and I really appreciate your stopping by!  Have a great day!
