Two Takes on Year of Flowers: Carnations

Me: Welcome to my second post of the day.
You: I didn't know you had two posts today!
Me: Oh!? You didn't!?
You: Nope.
Me: Well you better get to scrolling and check out my earlier post!
You: Well, of course I will!
Me: Thanks! That makes me so happy! *big smile*

Now that you've checked out the other post -  I'll let you take a gander at this one.

This post is all about challenging myself to use one stamp set in two different ways.
I chose to use the Papertrey Ink Year of Flowers: Carnation stamp set.

I love this stamp set, especially because I can color in the flowers and use the Tombow Watercolor Markers that I was given by a good friend (thanks Jenni & Austin!!)

My first take on these carnations stamps is a vintage-inspired card.

I used the PTI Text Styles II stamp set to create the faded background, which I think lends perfectly to the vintage feel.  Those bright red carnations are just the right pop of color and I added some glitter to the edges for some much needed sparkle.

My next iteration of the YOF: Carnation is a card with a modern feel. I was inspired by one of my favorite accessory stores - Henri Bendel. Their gift boxes and shopping bags feature a simple, yet stunning brown and white striped pattern. I just love it.

I used the solid stripe from PTI Faux Ribbon to create the black and white striped background. And of course a little glitter was in order for the edges of the flowers.

So there we are - two takes on the same flower and the same layout. Both of these cards make me smile and I'm so happy to have shared them with you!

Have a great day.
