Chevrons and Florals

I'm a big fan of the theory that items should not match - they should go. This is precisely why,  on several occasions I have had to frustratingly tell my usually fashionable mother, "No, those leopard print shoes do not look good with that leopard print scarf....and that leopard print bag,"  which brings me to another one of my favorite theories - "Only one leopard print item at a time" - but I digress.

When it comes to papercrafting, I like to combine patterns, colors and themes that go, which is how I ended up with today's combination of chevrons and florals. The chevrons are bold and modern. The florals are soft and a bit vintagey. Together - they work.

For this card, I masked four squares and used the Clear and Simple Stamps Ric Rac set to create chevron patterns in opposing directions. Then, with the Papertrey Ink Pretty Peonies set, I stamped a beautiful floral image and shaded it for dimension. I'm loving the result!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Supplies:
Stamps: Clear and Simple Stamps (Ric Rac); Papertrey Ink (Gracious Vases {for sentiment}, Pretty Peonies)
Ink: Impress Fresh Ink (Black, Peach, Grass, Provincial Grey)
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream)

  1. You know you created an entire movement when you shaded those flowers the first time, don't you?

This is *perfect*... I just love the colour combo, and you're so dead on with the whole pattern-combining thing...

    Love it!
