Happy World Card Making Day!!
This time last year, I didn't even know there was such a thing as World Card Making Day - and today I am so thankful for it!!
Today, I'm celebrating by crafting it up big time. Since today, also marks a special occasion at Clear and Simple Stamps, I thought I'd stop in and share a card with you as well as some very important information!
Starting today, Clear and Simple Stamps will be retiring several stamp sets - and you don't want to miss out on grabbing a few of these before they're gone!

As for my card, I decided to use one of my favorite Clear and Simple stamp sets - Spring - which is not being retired.
Here's my card...but you'll want to keep reading for a fun little twist on this creation:
So...I made this card, then shared it with Andrew to see what he though. I typically do that, and he often gives me a thumbs up or maybe an "eh" to say that it's not his number one fave.
This time though...this time...he reacted quite adamantly, saying that he thought I need to stamp a sun underneath the umbrella. He was so convinced that this was the missing piece on my card.
I disagreed. A sun would add too much busy-ness to my CAS design.
So, Andrew commissioned me to recreate his design and let the blog reader decide. I mean, honestly, this man has never been so adamant about a card design in his life. Apparently, he's caught the World Card Making Day bug!
So here it is. I stamped it. He designed it...seriously. He stood over me and dictated every detail of the design...it was hilarious.

He even sent me to following email to include in the post so that reader's knew his thought process:
The sun and rain are in color because they are elements from nature, while the umbrella and sentiment are black because they are manmade creations. Additionally, the sun and the word "brighten" are receiving the direct benefit of the umbrella's shelter.
So there you have a it...a little friendly competition that started all because of a missing "sun!"

Ok, it really is hard to decide...I had to laugh at Andrew's instructions for you, but his did turn out quite well, if I do say so. I am surprised that it worked as well as it did! {but...personally...I am in favor of yours} teehee!

I dig your card Amber but, Andrew's card (once I read his detailed instruction) makes a lot of sense. But, I do have to say your design makes more sense. Andrew is just deep that's all. LOL!

ReplyDeleteI like Andrew's card best. That white space under the umbrella was distracting. I like how the sun adds an element of optimism as well as grounding the umbrella.

Amber and Andrew. You are too funny! I love that Andrew had a vision and insisted you see it through. I love his thought process too. I hope to see more of Andrew's cards and read his thoughts. Too funny girl! They are both equally fabulous cards!

ReplyDeleteSorry Andrew, I like Amber's version best. But I totally "get" what you are saying, Andrew. I saw the sentiment and thought about the same thing (sunshine) but thought I might place a sun with the inside sentiment.

Now Andrew you are getting A+ marks for even taking an interest in card design.
Both cards are great, I think it just comes down to individual preference.

ReplyDeleteWow. I like both of them. Amber's card is a little cleaner, but if the umbrella were bigger, it would leave more space for the sun and might not be as busy on the eyes. Great job, Andrew!!
